Remote Area Medical
RAM (Remote Area Medical). This non-profit was created in order to provide free medical care to uninsured people (50 millions in United States).
Every year for three days in Wise, Virginia, hundreds of volunteers donate their time to help others. These volunteers install a huge camp that has the capability of assisting as many as three thousand people during the event.
The patients come from all over, and most sleep in their cars in the parking lot. At 6 o'clock in the morning staff from RAM begin to give out numbers in order to organize access to medical services.
