Oliver Contreras is a staff Photographer and Photo Editor at the White House Photo Office in Washington, D.C.

During the past nine years he has worked as an independent photojournalist and as a contractor Photo Editor for The Washington Post as a photojournalist. His work has been focused mainly in political news and stories of particular interest to the Hispanic community. He has been recording the experiences of Latino immigrants in the United States.

His projects has taken him to Central America, the U.S.-Mexican border, the Caribbean, and cities across the United States where he has uncovered immigrants’ sacrifice, determination, and dedication.

Now, for the past 7 years he has been working at the White House daily, covering mainly the President of the United States.

Originally from Chile, he worked as a freelance photojournalist for The Washington Post, The New York Times, Bloomberg, SIPA USA, Getty Images, UPI, and also had collaborated with National Geographic, Time Magazine, among others.

 

Oliver has a M.A. in New Media/Photojournalism at the George Washington University-Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, in Washington D.C.
